Monday - Crime and Punishment
Dec. 10th, 2018 12:42 amHello, everyone. I’m
dreamsofspike and today's theme is Crime and Punishment. Prompts can be anything involving any character committing a crime, and/or facing the consequences of that crime. Maybe someone is visiting someone else in prison. Maybe someone committed a crime of passion. Maybe someone is getting away with murder. Maybe it's not even illegal, but an unforgiveable crime has been committed in a relationship. Whatever you can imagine, as long as it relates in some way to crime and/or punishment.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Supernatural, Sam/Gabriel - payback's a bitch
+ Law and Order: SVU, Olivia Benson/Rafael Barba - she can't protect him while he's behind bars
+ The Good Place, Michael/Eleanor - she's welcomed in with open arms; for him, it's... a little more complicated
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2018 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Fill: + Sam Wilson, Gen
Date: 2018-12-15 01:26 am (UTC)The second time it happened, Sam was concerned, because Iron Man had been pretty clear on the open comm channel, he had this one covered, but the Winter Soldier threw himself into the mix anyway. Sure, the Avengers won, saved the day. Sure, Iron Man came out of the battle unscarred. But they had to work as a team, to trust each other.
“You know,” Bruce said one night, “a colleague of mine, Professor Xavier, has a state-of-the-art virtual training system for his team. Maybe we should set up something similar. So we can work out a better battle system than calling shots like a bunch of beach volleyball players.”
Because Tony liked anything bright and shiny, he said he was interested, talked to Pepper about making another floor available as a training space, asked Bruce to reach out to this Professor Xavier.
They were still waiting for the Training Sim Room to get set up when it happened a third time. Winter Soldier took a shot meant for Iron Man. Except Iron Man had, in fact, seen it coming, and had a counter-attack prepared, only Winter Shield jumped in and he got hit from both sides.
After the battle, Tony was annoyed, Steve was concerned, and Sam - he waited till everyone else cleared out of the infirmary. Then he sat down beside Bucky’s cot.
“Just so you know, Tony’s capable in battle. He’s not a trained soldier like some of us, but he can take care of himself.”
Bucky, who’d had his forearm flung across his eyes, turned to look at him. “What?”
“Tony can take care of himself,” Sam said.
“I know that.”
“Then why don’t you let him do it?”
“Because - I owe Howard Stark.”
That caught Sam off guard. “Owe him what? Money? Tony’s got more money than his father could ever dream of. Did you lose a bet?”
“I’m the reason Howard and Maria aren’t around to protect their son. So I owe them.”
Sam sighed. “That wasn’t you. That was who Hydra programmed you to be.”
“It was me. It was my hands, my gun. When I close my eyes, I can feel the blood on my hands. Hear Maria breathing.” Bucky swallowed hard. “I have to make up for all the things I did, starting with Tony.”
Sam reached out, put a hand on Bucky’s shoulder. “The best way to make up for what Hydra wreaked in this world, with you as an unwitting instrument, is to stay with the Avengers and help us be as effective as possible. Starting with not getting in Tony’s way in battle.”
“But -”
“James Buchanan Barnes, you are more than what was done to you by Hydra. You’re strong and brave, a good and loyal friend. You have a good heart and a bright mind. Throwing yourself on your sword for Tony Stark won’t change the past. Nothing can. All you can do is help build a better future.”
“I deserve to be punished,” Bucky said softly.
“You’ve already been punished far more than any person should. Time served,” Sam said.
“I don’t deserve this life, any of you people, any of - this.”
“Yes, you do. And I will keep telling you till you believe it.”

Date: 2018-12-10 04:35 pm (UTC)Fill: John/Rodney + Teyla + Ronon + Evan
Date: 2018-12-11 05:40 am (UTC)“What are you, three? This is very delicate work, Sheppard. So shut up and let me do it.”
John didn’t bother hiding his smirk. It was so easy to wind Rodney up. He knew he shouldn’t do it when they were on the job, but he just couldn’t help himself. He loved that angry gleam in Rodney’s eyes and the way his skin flushed.
Head in the game, Sheppard, Lorne said in his ear, sounding amused.
John flipped him off, knowing he was monitoring the security feed.
The security guard is on his way back, Teyla warned. Shall I delay him?
“We’re about to have company,” John said to Rodney. The other man didn’t wear an earbud because he found the chatter distracting, and they had yet to find him one that he deemed comfortable enough to stick in his ear.
Rodney muttered to himself for another thirty seconds or so, and then he stood back, beaming. “Done!”
“Teyla, exfil. We’re on our way.”
“It’s perfect,” Rodney said. “I told you this would work.”
“You’re a brilliant, brilliant man,” John agreed. “And we need to go.”
He wasn’t kidding. Rodney was a genius with a crafty mind. Who else would’ve thought of replacing the painting with an identical hologram? It wouldn’t go unnoticed forever, but it would give them one hell of a head start.
“You have it?”
John held up the plastic tube that held the original painting and shook it. “I have it. Let’s go.”
They made their way out of the museum the same way they got in, following a very specific path through the security measures so their passing would be unnoticed; the idea was for the break-in to be completely overlooked.
“Clear,” John said as soon as his feet touched the sidewalk.
He pulled his coat out of the bushes where it had been stashed and used it to cover his all-black ensemble. Rodney did the same. John pulled him in for a quick, but thorough, kiss.
“Always a pleasure committing a felony with you,” he murmured against Rodney’s lips.
A successful job always made him horny. He couldn’t wait to get Rodney back to the house they were renting and have his wicked way with him.
Get a move on, loverboy, Lorne said with a laugh. He’d been reluctant at first to go along with the hologram idea – forgeries and reproductions were his particular skillset – but Rodney had needed his input to make sure the color intensities were correct.
The SUV was waiting at the corner, engine running and Ronon behind the wheel. They’d blend right in with the traffic, nothing about the car worth noticing. Well, except the driver. John and Rodney slid into the backseat with Teyla, who’d already stowed her climbing rig. Lorne rode up front, laptop still open and monitoring the room the painting had hung in.
“He’s walked right past it twice now,” Lorne said. “Doesn’t notice a thing.”
“I told you it would work,” Rodney replied smugly.
“Back to the house?” Ronon asked, merging neatly into traffic.
“Food first, I think.” As horny as he was, John knew Rodney would need to eat before expending a lot of energy. Lots of energy. He handed the painting to Teyla. “It’s all yours.”
“Thank you, John.” Teyla took possession of the plastic tube, holding it carefully with both hands. “The Silvermans will be glad to finally have this piece of their family history returned.”
“Just make sure they pay what they said. Cash only.”
They’d done a good deed, returning a stolen painting that had gone missing during the second world war, but a job was a job, and Rodney’s fancy tech didn’t come cheap. John made sure they didn’t ask for more than the Silvermans could afford.
“So where we eating?” Ronon asked.
They spent the remainder of the drive arguing about what kind of food to get, because of course everyone wanted something different, but in the end they deferred to John, as they always did.
Besides, who didn’t love tamales?

Date: 2018-12-11 05:37 pm (UTC)Can't take any credit for the hologram painting. Saw it on a TV show and spent all night trying to remember which one so I could give it props. Still have no idea. ::shrugs::
