Monday: Giving Gifts
Dec. 17th, 2018 12:03 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling themes inspired by the holidays. Today’s theme is GIVING GIFTS, anything and everything about the act of giving a gift to someone (gift of time, birthday gift, etc)! Prompts and fills do NOT have to be specifically holiday-oriented.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard + Rodney McKay + Ronon Dex + Teyla Emmagan, picking names for a gift exchange
+ Lucifer (TV), Lucifer Morningstar +/ Any, what do you get the man who has everything?
+ Trixie Belden Mysteries/The Three Investigators, Trixie Belden + Skinner Norris/Mart Belden, Trixie helps Skinner pick out a present for Mart
+ Any, Any m/m, choosing the right holiday wrapping paper is the most important decision of all
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-12-19 06:09 pm (UTC)Teyla had pointed out, after the first day of negotiations, that the Chieftain’s daughter liked Rodney’s blue eyes (and so Lorne was forbidden from stepping through the gate to that planet till negotiations were done). Ronon, who knew of the people on this planet, said that the people were culturally fond of cute things.
Like Dr. Kusanagi, Ronon had said.
So Rodney, wearing a pair of fluffy cat ears, went and sat beside the Chieftain’s daughter, and he smiled at her through the entire meal, and even managed to make small talk without making any faces (because this planet, in addition to growing the best coffee substitute they’d found in four years, had a ZPM manufacturing plant they wanted to explore).
The meal went over splendidly, and John promised some of his people would return.
He managed to hold back his laughter till they made it back to Atlantis. Rodney was torn between smacking him on the shoulder and removing the clip-on cat ears as soon as possible.
Rodney shoved them at Lorne, who was passing by with an armload of boxes. “Next time, you can wear them,” he snapped.
Lorne fumbled to catch them. “What?”
Ronon patted his shoulder, grinning.
Next time, John was definitely sending Lorne’s team to that planet. With Zelenka. He had blue eyes, too.

Date: 2018-12-17 04:39 pm (UTC)Fill: The Perfect Gift - Avengers
Date: 2018-12-18 03:06 am (UTC)Sure, Peter was smart, but Mr. Stark was smarter. The man could build anything he could, only a thousand times better.
Maybe he could find an old toy like what Mr. Stark played with as a child, but what would he have played with? Wooden airplanes? Metal blimps? Guns? He had no idea what he was searching for as he strolled through the local bazaar.
Just as he was about to give up and try someplace else, he saw it. The perfect, one of a kind, gift taking shape before his eyes. Mr. Stark wouldn’t or couldn't have that. Peter was relieved that it would not cost an arm, leg, or first-born child.
He watched the smith finish this masterpiece, then lovingly wrapped it for Peter to give.
He carefully secured the gift in his coat before booking it to the Avengers Tower, praying that his mentor would be there.
"FRIDAY, is Mr. Stark here?" he asked upon entering the building.
"I have alerted him of your presence, Peter. Please, stand-by," the computer instructed.
He was fidgeting, shifting his weight from foot to foot, just… being a bundle of nerves. What if he didn't like it? What if he had accidentally broken it on the way here?
"What happened?" Tony asked as he rushed in seconds before Peter could work himself into a panic attack.
"Nothing," was the simple truth.
"FRIDAY said you had an elevated pulse rate," the older man intoned suspiciously.
"Here, Merry Christmas," Peter rushed as he thrust the wrapped gift at the man.
Tony slowly unwrapped the gift and inhaled sharply at the sight that greeted him.
"I asked myself 'What can you get a man who has everything?'" he chuckled nervously, "the only thing I could think of was 'The Universe'. I hope you like it."
"It's perfect. Thank you, Peter," he said as he stared at the small, obviously hand-blown, glass sphere containing the universe. It was the perfect reminder for what he fought for.
