Wednesday: 100 Words on TV Songs

brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling themes based on Netflix and Chill, using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Today’s theme is TV SONGS, any prompts involving TV-related song-stylings. (Including things like being on a musical game show, a TV theme song, a song featured in a TV show, etc.)
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Fill 200: McShep, angst

All eyes were on the stand-off down in the gate room. Lorne was between John and the active gate. Rodney hovered behind John. SFS surrounded them, weapons at the ready.
“Major,” John said, voice low.
“Sir,” Lorne said, voice equally low.
John flinched.
Lorne said, “Hit me.”
“What?”
“Hit me and go, sir.”
“Lorne -”
“They can’t take your wings. There’s a jumper stashed on Sateda.”
Rodney’s eyes went wide, but for once he said nothing.
John said, “Sorry.”
And he struck.
In the chaos that followed, John and Rodney made it through the gate.
Hours later, they stumbled through the gate to Sateda. John followed USAF survival wilderness signals, found the jumper in what looked like a destroyed hangar. How Lorne had maneuvered it in there was a testament to his flight skills.
In typical Lorne fashion, the jumper was stocked with food, clothes, and other long-term survival supplies.
“John,” Rodney began, expression miserable.
“They can’t take the sky from me,” John said. “You are my sky.”

Date: 2019-02-27 05:08 pm (UTC)Except Rodney was hot, John was lonely. And Rodney was brilliant. Funny, if you looked past the sharp sarcasm. He played piano and had amazing hands. And could drink better than any Marine, so when they had a weekend pass to the mainland it was easy to find an obscure New Zealand bar and take the plunge.
John had been so drunk, but not too drunk to remember Rodney’s hands on his skin, the taste of his lips, and the way they’d both admitted the bittersweet truth: I love you.
But John belonged to the Air Force, and Rodney’s love was forbidden, and it was easy to “forget” the morning after.
And then it was so much harder to smile at Rodney, to joke, to laugh, to play chess, to bring him coffee and let his hand linger near Rodney’s as he waved another Ancient device to life.
Rodney was a genius; Rodney knew the score. His pretty mouth had a miserable turn to it, between smiles and conversations, but he didn’t confront John, and John was grateful - and equally miserable.
So he missed Rodney, and he kissed Chaya. And he missed Rodney, and Rodney flirted with Alina. And John missed Rodney, and he kissed Teer. And he missed Rodney, and was supportive when he dated Katie Brown. And John missed Rodney, and let Mara tumble him into a bed. And he missed Rodney, and -
“Why here? Why now, when I’m about to die because I can’t Ascend?” Rodney demanded. “There are plenty of other times I might have died -”
“Because I was an idiot and I’m sorry and you can come back from Ascension. Daniel Jackson did it.”
“I’m smarter than Jackson,” Rodney protested.
“I know,” John said, catching his gaze and holding it.
After a moment, the realization sunk in.
Rodney punched him in the arm. Hard. “You were more than idiot. You were an asshole. It’s been years.”
John didn’t deny it.
Rodney grabbed him and kissed him, hard. “Now, teach me how to meditate.”
