Hi everyone! I'm
trinityday and I'll be your guest host this week.
Today's theme is manners.
Ps & Qs. Social graces. Poise and deportment. Some people's default mode is to be polite. Others... not so much. So tell us about your characters following proper etiquette, their mishaps, everything that has to do with manners in general.
For the sake of our code monkeys, please remember not to go crazy and to limit yourself to 3 prompts per genre and 5 prompts in a row total. If your prompts get answered, then feel free to leave some more later in the day.
Spoilers are not allowed in your prompts until a week (7 days) has passed from the original air date. If there are spoilers in your fic, please remember to warn people by bolding and leaving at least 3 spaces.
Also, remember to thank your fic provider. Not only is it the nice thing to do, but it often helps encourage them to write even more.
The proper formatting for leaving your prompts is as follows, the third example being for crossovers:
Harry Potter, Lily/James, it's polite to reciprocate oral sex
Doctor Who, Doctor/Donna, the correct form of greeting on Earth in the 73rd century
Torchwood/Highlander, Methos/Jack, the proper etiquette for attending your own funeral
If none of today's prompts catch your eye, there's always the Lonely Prompts list to look through.

part 2/2
Date: 2009-12-08 12:39 pm (UTC)The raucous applause from the theater proper filtered through the corridors and under the doors. Danny stood in front of the sink, arms spread against cold porcelain, studying his profile.
Flushed cheeks, bright eyes, swollen lips. His tie had been accidentally flushed down the toilet by Mac somewhere in the middle of their... their... Is there a name for this, by the way?
They had managed to christen each and every bowl in the toilet during the second half of the opera, and Mac was sedately smug.
"This is unlike you," Danny addressed Mac through the reflection in the mirror.
In it, Mac was straightening his suit, combing his hair into place with those fingers, smiling quietly.
"I don't do this often, yes."
"What is this, Mac?"
"What is what?"
"This," Danny gestured, trying to encompass the whole situation in a sweep of his arms.
"Told you. It's for Detective Wilson."
"Opera? Out-of-order toilets?" Danny asked. "Really?"
"Yes, hard to believe, isn't it?"
"Obviously!" Danny stared at his own reflection. "So."
"So."
"What's the verdict? I can hardly picture Stella as an opera person, much less a girl willing to be dragged into an out-of-order but not really out of order toilet on her first date."
"I rather thought so, too," Mac said, twisting the tap and washed his hands in that highly efficient way of his. "But then, such was the brief. And the guy's very exacting, as you know," Then it was the hand dryer, then it was the door.
Soon, they were back out on the corridor, in the middle of a modest stream of people going home after a good night out at the operas.
"The report would read?" Danny asked, as they stepped out onto the pavement, cold spring night greeting him with a tug of his coat.
"Good singers, good toilet, all in good working order."
"Good?" Danny asked, as he tried to sidestep a swerving bicycle.
"And with the correct person: Great."
"Am I considered a correct person, then?"
"To some men."
"Are you 'some men'?" Danny asked again, complete with requisite hand gestures.
"Am I?"
---
They walked in silence all the way back to the office, which was actually quite far. But they didn't seem to notice.
At the sliding glass doors, they stopped and regarded each other. The door slid open as Flack stepped out. "So, did the opera speak to the Italian soul within you?" he asked Danny.
"Well," Danny said, clearing his throat for longer than necessary. "Well. I don't know. We'll have to go again right, boss?"
Mac offered no answer, merely gesturing noncommittally. Danny gave a side way glance and hated himself for it. Mac's stoic mask was slowly being put back in place. Gone was the Mac of the Opera, he wondered if he could get it back.
"We should take you with us sometime, don't we? Give you the whole Mac Taylor experience. What do you think, boss?"
Mac still didn't offer any response, but Danny was a self-styled expert Mac-reader, and his gut feeling told him that Mac would not be entirely too averse to the idea.
He smiled at Flack and Mac and stepped inside the building with a "I think there's evidence with my name on it, already waiting for me" and a "talk to you guys later, okay?"
