Thursday: Animals
Jun. 6th, 2019 12:12 amHello, everyone. I’m
tigriswolf and today's theme is animals. Prompts can be anything to do with animals. Go wild, y'all.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: <b><font color="#ff0000">[Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]</font></b>
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2019 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ns96nSxuE3O7DYu7fYyUeXIRASUiXqWRhLosbl14rFs/edit?pli=1#gid=0" target="_blank">Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1</a> (not very current), <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bwr32kOqPOUkzQ2ba_krL7eRhg6QrvqrW2AZVovBucQ/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2</a>, or the <a href="http://comment-fic.livejournal.com/calendar" target="_blank">Calendar Archives</a>, or for more recent prompts, you can use <a href="http://www.livejournal.com/search/?type=advanced&area=comments&journal=comment_fic" target="_blank">LJ's advanced search options</a> to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

“Hey,” James said, nudging Zayne with his foot. “Wake the hell up.”
“Why,” Zayne groaned, rolling over onto his side. He glared up at the redhead.
“Because you’re on the floor,” James said, exasperated. “And because you’re going to make us late for dinner. I swear to god, your spirit animal is a sloth.”
“It is closer to the Texas Tortoise,” Andrej said, walking through the living room and stepping over Zayne’s legs on his way into the kitchen.
“Slow moving, hard shell, ugly as sin,” James said, nodding. “It tracks.”
“They are not ugly,” Andrej said. “They are very cute in a reptilian sort of way.”
“Gee, thanks, Zek,” Zayne grunted. He forced himself into a sitting position.
“Sloths are by far cuter,” James said. “Just saying.”
“The Texas Tortoise is found in both southern Texas and Northeastern Mexico,” Andrej pointed out. “It is where Zayne is from and more accurate.”
James laughed. “Of all the dumbass things to be arguing about,” he said. “But either way, we’re still going to be late.” He gave Zayne’s leg another gentle kick.
“Dude,” Zayne said, stretching. “The Texas Tortoise is endangered and therefore protected by law. It’s illegal to collect, possess, or harm a Texas Tortoise. So, back the hell off before I unleash the law on you.”
James held up his hands and backed away. “Okay, fine,” he said. “But your partner here is going to go to jail for a long time. He collected you, he possessed you, and he moved you out of your home range.”
“That’s okay though,” Zayne said, winking at Andrej. “Because he takes care of me. Help me up, Zek?”
Andrej reached out a hand and helped Zayne to his feet. “Jay is right, we are going to be late.”
“Don’t worry, I showered earlier. All I need to do is change.”
With that, Zayne wandered off towards his room for fresh clothes and hopefully a better attitude.
“My point stands,” James said, heading towards his room for a pair of socks. “Sloths are still cuter.”
“I heard that, narco,” Zayne yelled from his bedroom. “And I’d rather be a tortoise than a sneaky little raccoon like you!”
With a sigh, Andrej contemplated leaving without them both, but knew the girls would only hound him until he told them why. This was not a discussion he ever wanted anyone to know about. Ever. Some things should be kept private.

As a desert dweller, I know more about tortoises than sloths, sorry. :D

Date: 2019-06-06 08:36 pm (UTC)Fill - Any Pet At All and...
Date: 2019-06-07 03:52 am (UTC)Connor blinked at the nonsequitor Faith offered. Did it mean she wanted petting? As he started to reach over, she fixed him with a stare. "Did you have any pets back in that hell dimension or what? I mean, I wanted a kitten when I was a kid but." She shrugged.
"Father didn't really like animals much." Connor remembered a few sermons about how animals were given to mankind by God as food or tools and if the animal wasn't one or the other, it was competition or prey. The creatures of Quor-Toth were more predator than prey, most days. "I found a young Kulik't once. Its father was dead." He said before Faith could ask, "The Kulik't babies are raised by the father."
"Did you adopt it?" Faith asked.
"No." Connor said it forcefully because it still hurt a little - the little Kulik't had crawled up his foot, nestled against his ankle and latched on tight. He'd wondered what it would be like, to raise it. Kulik't were smaller predators, with mouths that peeled back from their jaws, and a howl that made most things turn and run if the Kulik't were in a pack.
Father had seen the baby Kulik't wrapped around Connor's leg and unwound it quickly. Connor turned the memory aside of what happened next. "Kulik't wouldn't make very good pets," he told Faith.
"Kinda like you, huh? Too wild." Faith grinned slightly to let him know she wasn't talking to hurt him. "But a kid oughtta have a pet of some sort." She glanced around as if one might magically appear - and for all Connor knew, maybe that was a Slayer thing, they suddenly acquired pets. Her smile broadened and Connor realized what - who she was smiling at.
"Oh, no," he said.
"C'mon, he's almost harmless. House trained. Stinks, but I can't think of any pet that doesn't." Faith nodded at Spike, who gave them both a suspicious glare. "He'd be perfect."
"Fine, you explain it to Angel."
Faith's laugh told Connor she was already plotting that. What was he getting himself into with this woman anyway?
