Date: 2019-06-16 04:45 am (UTC)He sat there panting trying to catch his breath with tears rolling down his cheeks as the replay of Goose's death final let go of him.
He absently noted the bed shift as his lover sat up and moved to wrap an arm around his heaving shoulders.
He jumped and swore before choking on his tears.
He was shushed and told to concentrate on his breathing.
"Just keep breathing, Pete," Ice told him. "Slow and steady."
He eventually got control of himself and relaxed into Ice's light embrace grateful that Tom never tried to confort him with simple platitudes. "Thanks, Tom," he said.
"Anytime, Pete. Anytime," Tom replied and brushed a soft kiss against Pete's temple.
They stayed like that until the alarm went off and they started another day.

Three little words, but the hardest ones to say in any language.
Zayne swore under his breath. He loved his boyfriends, but he had never told them so. Shown them plenty of times, but never came out and told them.
He paced around the livingroom of the house he shared with them trying to work up the courage to finally tell them.
*&*
Andy and James returned from grocery shopping only to find that Zayne had worked himself up into a tizzy instead of doing his set of weekly chores.
Andy sighed and shook his head. He really didn't want to know what was bothering Zayne, so he grabbed the bags of groceries from James and took them into the kitchen to be put away.
James blew out a harsh breath and called Andy a few uncomplimentry names under his breath. He never understood why he had to handle Zayne when the cowboy was on the verge of a breakdown.
He let Zayne make another circuit around the couch and then caught hold of him.
Zayne looked up and got lost in James' pale blue eyes.
James gave him a little shake. "Alright, cowboy, what's got you so worked up?"
"I...I.." Zayne stuttered unable to say what he wanted to say. He pulled lose of James' hold and ran to hide in his bedroom.
"Shit!" James swore.
"What happened?" Andy inquired from the doorway of the kitchen.
"I don't know," James told him. "I asked him what was wrong and instead of answering he ran away."
"Did you two get into an argument this morning?" Andy asked since he thought he had heard them bickering about something unimportant like they usually did when they had been together for too long.
"Just the usual b.s.," James admitted. "That rarely has him unable to speak and wanting to hide."
"Then he must have overheard my conversation with Trish," Andy said with a grimace.
"What did the redheaded she-devil want?" James asked.
"She just wanted a recipe for my dan dan noodles," Andy answered. "But we may have gotten on the topic of affection and how you and Zayne tell me how much you care for me."
"I love you," James said and brushed a kiss against Andy's cheek. "Zayne loves you too, but I'm not certain I have ever heard him tell you other than in a joking tone."
"That is what I told Trish," Andy remarked. "Zayne may have heard it and took it the wrong way."
"You weren't criticizing him," James pointed out. "Just wished he would seriously tell you how he truly felt about you."
"Yes," Andy agreed. "But what about you?"
"I know he loves me. I don't need the words, but I guess it would be nice to hear them every once in awhile."
Andy nodded.
*&*
Gathering up the little bit of courage he possessed, Zayne left his bedroom and went in search of his boyfriends.
He found them in the kitchen making lunch.
"Ahem," he said clearing his throat.
This got their attention and they both looked at him with concern etched in their features.
"I love you," he blurted out before turning to go hide in his bedroom once more.
He didn't get very far.
Andy caught hold of him and pulled him into a gentle embrace. "I know you do," Andy told hoping to reassure Zayne of his place in his life. "You show me in little ways every day."
James settled in behind Zayne making the Texan the filling of their sandwich. "I know you love me as well. Words are nice, but not always necessary."
Zayne sagged into their embrace grateful that his boyfriends knew him well enough to not expect to say he loved them every day.
James pulled Zayne close. "We love you," he told him again wanting the cowboy to know that despite everything they truly did love him. "You can show me how much you love us after lunch. Deal?"
"Deal," Zayne agreed. "What's for lunch."
Andy shook his head. "Whatever I feel like making. Now, shoo. Go cuddle in the livingroom."
"You heard the man, gingerbread," Zayne told James. "Let' s go cuddle and plot ways to drive Andy crazy with desire."
James softly chuckled and pulled Zayne out of the kitchen with him. There was plotting to be done.
