Tony sauntered into his lab whistling an off-key verison of "A Pirate's Life For Me." He was in a good mood despite spending most of the day dealing with Obidah and his ideas on how Stark Industries needed to be lead.

Howard had been dead for several years now and Obidah still treated Tony like he was a child when it came to company business.

Tony had silently wished a few times that he could actually breathe fire just so he could singe Obidah's ass whenever the other man talked down to him.

"Anything on the agenda, J?" he asked his A.I.

"No, sir," Jarvis replied. "The calendar is clear for the rest of the day."

"Awesome," Tony exclaimed. "I can now enjoy some down time."

What Tony meant by down time, was time he spent in his natural firm.

For you see gentle folks, Tony Stark was actually a dragon in a human disguise.

He had to use magic to create and maintain the disguise and this could get exhausting, so he had taken to scheduling periods of time where he returned to his true form.

As dragons go, he wasn't very big or scary. He was of medium size with a decent wing span, so he could fly whenever he chose to.

With a sigh, he let go of the magic and his human form disappeared in thin air. He stretched and then settled down on the soft mattress in the back corner of the lab for a little afternoon nap.

*&*

Pepper entered the lab surprised not to be assailed by hard rock music or catch sight of Tony dancing between his sports cars.

She heard a soft rumbling noise and followed it to the back of the lab where she received the biggest shock of her life since starting to work as Tony Stark's assistant.

In the back corner of the lab, a bronze colored dragon slept.

"Jarvis is that...?" she asked Tony's A.I.

"Yes, Miss Potts," Jarvis drily replied. "That is Mister Stark. Shall I wake him for you?"

"No, thank you," Pepper replied. "I'll manage."

"But of course," Jarvis said and returned to silently monitoring the lab as well as the rest of the mansion.

Pepper walked up to the dragon and gently nudged him while saying, "Tony. Tony, it's time to wake up."

Tony grumbled and groaned, but eventually opened his eyes. He jumped back in surprise when he saw who had woken him up.

Shit! he thought. I'm busted now.

Pepper stood her ground with a worried frown gracing her face. "We're you ever going to tell me?" she asked instead of freaking out about him being an actual dragon.

"Not unless I had to," Tony told her amused that she hadn't freaked out on him like a few of his friends had upon learning his secret. It just made her more badass in his humble opinion.

"Understandable," she admitted. "But makes my job harder than it needs to be."

"Granted," Tony agreed. "But I have to be careful who I tell since dragons aren't readily accepted in this world. I'm kinda fond of where my head is at."

Pepper softly chuckled. Leave it to Tony to make a joke out of everything, she mused.

Tony shrugged causing his wings to twitch.

"Can you fly?" Pepper asked having accepted that life in Tony's world would be anything if not interesting.

"Yes," Tony replied with a smirk in his tone.

"Would you take me flying some time?"

"How about now?"

"Now is good," Pepper replied with a hint of pleased surprise in her voice.

"Hop on and hang on tight," Tony gently commanded.

Pepper hopped on Tony's back and wrapped her arms around his neck to keep from falling off.

Jarvis opened the skylight and Tony took off taking Pepper for the first of many rides.

This was cute, even if it's giving me flashbacks to an old trilogy of D&D books I read about 30 years ago. :D

The Dragonlord of Mystara had a main character who didn't know he was a dragon stuck in human form, which was rather amusing when he woke up one morning and was a dragon. LOL
