Sing A Song For Friday!

Hello, everyone. I’m squidgiepdx and today's my last time for this round for hosting. Boo! But it's okay - we'll all sing kumbaya as we head into the weekend. And speaking of kumbaya and singing, the theme for today is song titles and lyrics. Prompts are really anything having to do with song titles or lyrics, so as the Prince song goes, Let's Go Crazy!

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.

Miko considered the game board in front of them, picked up an alarmingly large handful of dice, and said, “I’m going to cast a fireball.”

Haley, behind her cardboard DM shield, nodded and said, “Roll your damage.”

Evan eyed Miko. “What kind of healer are you, exactly? Shouldn’t you be, you know, healing? Instead of setting things on fire?”

Miko shrugged. “I asked. No one said they needed any healing. I’m a cleric who worships the goddess Sarenrae, whose domains are healing and fire, so. Fireball.”

Her glittery blue dice clattered across the tabletop. She gathered them up into pairs with impressive speed — each pair added up to ten — and added them up, and said to Haley, “Forty-seven.”

Haley nodded and tipped over several little metal goblin figurines. “You hit. You kill three goblins.”

Myungjun cheered.

Katie said, “I’d have gotten them next round.”

David stared at the little metal figurines on the gameboard and said, “I think I want to be sedated,” in a faint voice.

Evan nudged him. “These are your friends.”

“I can’t believe you let me talk you into this,” David said.

Haley resumed her initiative countdown. “Thirteen, twelve, eleven —”

“I go on eleven,” Evan said.

Haley nodded. “Take your action.”

Evan considered his character sheet. “I’m going to hit that goblin with my sword.”

“All right. Roll to hit,” Haley said.

Myungjun showed Evan which die to roll, and Miko showed Evan which number to add to his die roll.

“Does twenty-three hit?” Evan asked.

“It does,” Haley said. “Roll your damage.”

That required a different die and a different number to add, and Evan was seriously impressed that they could keep track of it all, even though Miko had told him, before the game, that Pathfinder had easier character sheets to read than, say, Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 or even 5e.

“Six,” Evan said.

Haley made a note somewhere behind her cardboard shield, which was decorated with dragons and forests and elves. “That goblin is half dead. Eleven, ten, nine.”

“David goes on nine,” Katie said.

“Oh, do I? Um...what can I even do?”

“You’re a wizard,” Katie said.

“He is, if you know what I mean,” Evan drawled.

Miko laughed, and Haley giggled.

Myungjun said, “What do you mean?”

“Cast magic missile at the goblins,” Katie suggested.

“If you can cast fireball, it does more damage,” Miko said. “You can borrow some of my dice if you want.”

“That would compound the burning damage,” Haley said.

“What do I roll?” David asked.

Miko leaned over to help him.

Myungjun said again, “What do you mean?”

David said to Evan, “I hate you.”

“I know, but you also love me.”

“Yes I do. Now add these dice up for me.”

“Right, that’s it, I’m all in,” Lucas said, as he collapsed dramatically on the sofa. “I am not moving a muscle anywhere, for anyone or anything for at least the next hour. Maybe even longer.”

“Hmm,” Adam Carter replied. “I had been planning on cutting the chocolate cake and bringing you a slice. But if you aren’t up to sitting up, then there seems little point, so I won’t bother.”

Lucas shot out of the sofa and back onto his feet so fast it made Adam laugh. “Chocolate cake is the exception which proves the rule,” Lucas said very firmly.

“There, my lady, you are beautiful,” Much said, giving her a bow.

The little girl giggled and ran off to show her friends.

Marion sat down beside Much. “That was a lovely thing to do,” she said.

“She was being left out because she was small and of no importance,” he replied. “I knew exactly how she felt.”

“Oy, get your head out!” Ros said firmly.

The werewolf reluctantly backed up a couple of steps, allowing Ros to close the fridge door. Then he tried to grab the contents of the plate Jo was taking through to the dining room.

“Not for you!” Jo said equally firmly.

“Sorry,” Adam said. “He had a pound of sausages before we came out, though you’d never believe it.”

Ros tossed a couple of beefburgers onto the floor, while the others went into the dining room.

Thirty seconds later the werewolf joined them.

“Sorry, mate, you’ve had yours,” Adam said.

The werewolf hung its head and whimpered.

“Don’t tease him,” Jo said. “It’s not fair!”

The werewolf trotted over to Jo and looked appealingly at her. She passed him a cocktail sausage roll.

“Don’t encourage him,” Adam said.

“I can’t resist those big eyes.”

“Who are you, Red Riding Hood?”

The werewolf’s head swung round and he raised his eyebrows at Adam.

“All right, I know, stereotypes!” Adam laughed.

The werewolf huffed.

Ros slid a roast chicken across the floor. “Here you are,” she said. “Enjoy it!”

The werewolf wagged its tail and bounded over to the corner, where it crunched contentedly.
