Date: 2010-09-14 03:51 pm (UTC)Fatherhood - Morgan/Reid
Date: 2010-09-15 02:30 am (UTC)He did think about having children. In fact, here lately, as he and Morgan became more and more settled in their relationship, looking towards the future, even considering buying a house together, Reid had thought about it quite a bit.
He'd never really imagined being a father. Not in any real, tangible way at least. He'd often imagined he'd be much better at it than his own father, knowing that he would never abandon his child, no matter the reason. But even so, it wasn’t a serious thought. Just something he thought about on long plane rides to another city, or as he lay alone in his hotel room, chasing shadows across the ceiling as he drifted between being fully awake and fast asleep.
When JJ announced her pregnancy, he'd started thinking about it a lot more. It likely had to something to do with Derek being in his life, now as much more than a friend. The idea of settling down and actually starting a family seemed like an attainable goal rather than an abstract thought. But he wasn't sure what Derek thought about having kids. Derek loved kids, his natural charm and easy smile making even the shyest child feel comfortable around him, but he’d never actually said he wanted kids. Spencer had tried to broach the subject on several occasions, but he never could, unsure what his own reaction would be if Derek said he didn't want children. Even more frightening, he had no idea how he'd feel if Derek said he did.
Then Henry was born, and he was thrust into the role of Godfather to a newborn infant. Thankfully he had Garcia's help, because without her he knew he'd have been lost in those first few months in his new role. But as the months wore on, Reid felt more confident around Henry; he didn't even mind changing the occasional dirty diaper. And Henry adored him, reaching for him as soon as Spencer entered the room, whimpering whenever he left.
It wasn't until he found himself in the baby section of one of the many stores Derek had dragged him to that day, when Spencer asked the question he'd been putting off for months. And he didn't even realize he was going to ask it until it was too late.
"Do you ever think about having kids?" Reid looked over at his lover as soon as the words were out, wishing he could take them back, yet wanting to know Derek's answer all the same.
"Sometimes. When I was still dating, I thought about it on occasion. But once I knew that you were it for me, not really."
Frowning a bit, Reid asked, "Why?"
"Because I figured you didn't want kids. I know you're not exactly comfortable around them. And you never said anything about wanting kids."
"Oh." Reid didn't say much more than that for a while, absently picking through the colorful outfits, lost in thought. As he came upon a small, blue teddy bear, Reid picked it up. Looking down at it, he smiled slightly, "I'm not exactly opposed to the idea. Before Henry? Yeah, fatherhood was just an abstract idea. I didn't really give it much thought one way or another. But now, I don't know. I love being with Henry, love seeing his eyes light up with joy whenever he discovers something new. I wouldn’t mind seeing that look on the face of my own child one day."
Derek turned towards Spencer, the look on his face indescribable. "One day?"
"Yeah, one day."
"One day soon?"
"Maybe."
Taking the bear out of Reid's hand, Derek put it back on the shelf. Grabbing his lover by the hand, Derek pulled his lover towards the store's exit.
"Derek. Derek, what are you doing!?"
Smiling as he glanced back at his lover, Derek replied, "Well, if you want to have a baby, Pretty Boy, we need to get started."
Laughing as Morgan waggled his brows, Reid exclaimed, "Derek you do realize that I'm a man, right? I can't get pregnant!"
"But we can still have fun trying! We’ll work the rest out later."
Shaking his head at his lover's antics, happy and relieved to know that Derek was not opposed to the idea of starting a family, Reid allowed his lover to pull him out of the store.

Date: 2010-09-14 08:09 pm (UTC)Clearly he'd overestimated the angels' capacity for empathy. He loved them so, he thought they'd want the humans to feel the same. But it wasn't enough. He needed angels who had been human.
So he looked at the humans in his care, and he chose.
He chose a mother who died with her daughter. The daughter who saved the lives of her friends. He chose a woman who had been cursed and given her life to protect strangers from herself. A man who'd had an open enough mind to see that his rivals were in truth his allies. And of course, he chose a mother and father whose love and justice lived on in their sons.
It was a good pantheon, really. But it needed a couple of anchors. So God gave a few dead angels new life, including one joker to run the whole show. Because in addition to empathy, Heaven's host sorely needed a sense of humor.

Date: 2011-01-24 04:02 am (UTC)Kurt doesn’t know how to tell this the others or even Ororo because it could too easily be misconstructed as being ashamed of himself which he isn’t. At least not for how he looks because the scars on skin show how many things he has good reason to be ashamed of.
He simply worries like every father does. He only wants what’s best for their child and the best would be if it didn’t look like him but like Ororo.

Date: 2010-09-14 04:47 pm (UTC)Still, in his prison below Sunnydale he heard of their exploits. The seer who, if you could only comprehend her insane ramblings, could foresee the future. Her vicious nature, allure and thrall were legendary. While her devoted White Knight had, to date, killed two slayers. Famed as The slayer of Slayers, and an asset to any clan.
He marvelled that they had risen to such heights, and took pleasure from their fame, as it was reflected on him, as the leader of the family.

Date: 2010-09-14 04:30 pm (UTC)Her eyes were a soft white, reminding the little boy of his kitten's fur. Sometimes, he had to resist the urge to touch them when she was paying attention to something else, staring off into the distance. Despite his childish desires, he always managed to stop himself from pressing his fingertips to her open eyes. Once or twice, his grandmother would flinch, as if just remembering he was there, and then pull him closer into her embrace.
He didn't listen to the other villagers when they talked about his grandmother. They said that she was crazy, some even said she was evil, but he knew better. The little things she told him always kept him safe, out of trouble. When the big storm had killed three little boys because they had been playing near the river, there were whispers because his grandmother hadn't let him go that day.
His favorite place was in her lap. She was safety and love and warmth. And before he would go to sleep, she would let him curl into a ball within her arms, and she would tell him the most amazing stories.
She told him of men who saved the world over and over again. Her voice would play with the words, soft when the brothers were going through a moment of panic, harsh and terrified when something had gone horribly wrong.
Every night she told him another story of boys who would one day keep the devil from taking over God's earth. He listened eagerly, wishing he could be one of them, that he too could have adventures and companionship like the brothers shared... yet he knew better...
His father had married his mother then disappeared, leaving the fragile young woman broken. Not long after, she too had disappeared and the boy was left with his grandmother. It didn't matter, though, because she loved him.
When he was ten years old, the village had had enough of the old woman's predictions and warnings, seeing them as threats and vengeance. One night, the boy was stolen away from the old woman, and she was taken away. No one ever told the boy what happened to her, and he left once he was old enough for America.
He had places to see and things to do. His grandmother had warned him that he had important things to do across the ocean, and he planned to do them.
