Travel Monday
Sep. 19th, 2016 06:47 amHello, everyone. I’m
fabrisse and today's theme is Travel. Prompts can be a short break from daily life, a permanent move to a new location, a vacation, or travel for work.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
Kingsman: The Secret Service, Gary “Eggsy” Unwin/Merlin, what really happened that week in the Kalahari?
Glee, Kurt Hummel + Mercedes Jones, What could be better than starring in a London show? Starring in it with your best friend.
Now You See Me Movies, Any, preparing for a new show and a new mark in a foreign country is always a challenge. Kyoto is a nightmare.
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

I just need some place where I can lay my head
"Hey, mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed?"
He just grinned and shook my hand and, "No", was all he said

“That’s what you said about your current job.”
“I know. And it was then, but it isn’t any more.”
“We haven’t been here long.”
“Yes, I had hoped we’d be here for a few more years, but I can’t stay.”
“I’ve started making friends. And people have finally stopped asking where we’re from.”
“I’m truly sorry, Abe,” Henry Morgan sighed. “I recognised the new surgeon and it won’t be long before he realises who I am.”

Re: Fill: The Faculty - Casey Connor & Zeke Tyler
Date: 2016-09-19 10:30 pm (UTC)Zeke, though, was left behind in Columbus; he did go to College, too, they had some close friends; Stokely had promised Casey to have an eye on him. But at the end of the day, he would come home to an empty apartment.
Casey knew how much Zeke hated that. It did remind him of his teenage years when his parents had left him alone much too early. When Casey had met him for the first time, he had been a lonely boy who had tried to hide behind a mask of the tough rebel who cared about nothing and no one.
It had taken some time until he finally started to open up against Casey ... and even longer until he was ready to admit his feelings and start to believe in a shared future.
…
Finally, Casey noticed him and waved. Zeke made his way through the crowd, his eyes were sparkling but the smile on his lips looked tense.
„Hey, you're back. C'mon, I will take the suitcase.“
He grabbed for it and frowned.
„Holy shit, what's in there? It feels like a lead weight.“
Casey laughed, trying to smooth over this slightly awkward moment.
„Just tons of pics. And some new books. One of the lecturers is a well-known photographer, he has already published some illustrated books. I couldn't resist to buy all of them.“
„Get it.“
Zeke turned to the exit.
„You had a lot of fun.“
Casey inwardly cringed at his low voice; no, he wouldn't let it happen that this would ruin his coming home. He was much too happy to be here again. Determined he grabbed for Zeke's arm to stop him, looked at these dark brown eyes, he loved so much.
„Zeke, we need to get something clear,“ he said in a soft voice.
„Yes, I had a lot of fun. Because being a photographer was my dream since I can remember. But I could only enjoy the trip that much because I knew it would only last two weeks.“
Not caring about the other people around he tiptoed to put his arms around Zeke's neck.
„I will always come back, Zeke, because it is the best of every trip to know that you are waiting for me.“
When he kissed him he could finally feel Zeke relaxing.

Date: 2016-09-19 06:29 pm (UTC)"We have to do something!" Cougar says, his accent stronger than usual, a sure sign of stress.
"It's not like we can shoot them."
Jake had volunteered to be a chaperone for his niece's soccer team's trip to Disney World for the national finals. Cougar had tagged along because it sounded like fun. Clearly, he's changed his mind
"We never planned for this," the sniper says gravely.
"I know, man. It's supposed to be the Sunshine State. Who knew it would rain like this?"
It isn't just a little rain, it's a torrent, a deluge, a potential flood. Which means they're stuck in their suite with a dozen hyper-active, highly energetic little girls.
The other chaperones have disappeared, leaving them to contend with the chaos.
"I'm going to put a sonic distractor in their rooms," Jake swears. "It's a little gizmo that projects the whine of a mosquito at random intervals. They'll be up all night. Payback!"
"That doesn't help us now!" Cougar says in despair.
Jake sighs. "We have to be strong."
They huddle in the bathroom, shuddering and listening to the chorus of shrill young voices incessantly singing "It's a Small World After All".

Date: 2016-09-19 09:16 pm (UTC)Fill: A Call away
Date: 2016-10-16 07:27 pm (UTC)He gives it one final pat, leaving the room with his promise. Wakanda is a gorgeous place, but he didn’t want to trouble T’challa more than needed. They working every day to reserve the effect of Hydra’s hold on Bucky. It was only a matter of time before T’challa personal best fixed his best friend.
Steve dug his phone from his pocket, one of multiple disposable styles to keep them save. It’s been a few weeks since his team had taken refuge in Wakanda. It was only fair he called her.
“It’s been three weeks, Captain,” Sharon teases the moment she answers the phone.
Steve laughs, one of most genuine since going into hiding, “I’ve been meaning to call.”
“You don’t say,” she continues her teasing, “you’re lucky you caught me alone.”
He runs a hand through his hair as he sighs, “I know. I’m taking a big risk and we can’t really talk for too long.”
“They may try to trace the call.” She states and he can see the sad smile thats gracing her lips, “How are you, Steve?”
“I...could be better. Bucky,” he pauses, closing his eyes and hitting his head against a wall, “Bucky voluntarily went back under cryogenic sleep. He figured it’s his best chance to get rid of what Hydra did to him.”
Sharon hums, “Maybe it is for the best. Is he getting help.”
Steve nods despite knowing she can’t see him, “Some of the best. I just wish he didn’t have to go through all this to begin with.”
“You’re doing the best you can, Rogers. Don’t let that bring you down.”
He smiles, her reassurance was welcoming.
“How are the others?”
Steve sighs, “doing the best they can. Scott and Clint miss their families, but at Natasha has been giving them updates and keeping a watchful eye on them. Sam’s holding up fine. I think he’s enjoying this brief peace period we’re in. Wanda,” Steve doesn’t want to go on. He’s still bothered by the ghost of the girl he rescued from that prison.
“Steve, what happened to Wanda?” Sharon asks worriedly, “don’t tell me she’s...”
“Oh God no,” Steve tries to reassure her while trying to dispel the thought from his own mind. “The kid had it the worse. They tortured her. When I got to the prison General Ross had them in, she looked like an empty shell of the girl I know. They had her in a straight jacket and collared the poor kid like she was some type of animal.” He hears the sharp intake of breath from the other end, “that’s not the worse of it. Her throat’s healing okay, but she still has some nasty burn from their sick shock therapy.”
“Is she going to be okay?”
“Yeah, she’s talking more these days. No longer walking the grounds like a ghost, but she’s still pretty skittish.”
“I don’t blame her.”
Steve slams his fist against the wall, “I hate this. I hate that I did this to her. To all of them.”
“Hey,” Sharon comforts, “they knew the the consequences. They had their reasons for following you.”
He closes his eyes, “I’m not sure I even know what my true reasons were.”
There bother stand in silence just listening to the others breathing through the line.
“Steve,” Sharon warns.”
He laughs bitterly, “I know. Lost track of time and I’m going to have to destroy this phone.”
“Things will get better, Steve. We’re working on bringing you guys home.”
“I appreciate it.”
“You should,” she jokes, “I may be miles away from where you are, but I’m there with you, okay?”
“Yes ma’am. We’ll see each other soon.”
“Better believe it, solider boy. You still owe me a coffee.”
He laughs sadly, “When I get back, I promise it’ll be the first thing I do.”
He hangs up after a final goodbye. The phone cracks in his hand, giving a satisfying crunch. He’s made too many promises today, even more so to the Carter women he cares about. He just hopes he can keep them this time.
