Thursday: Festive Fusions
Dec. 20th, 2018 12:01 amHi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling themes inspired by the holidays. Today’s theme is FESTIVE FUSIONS, anything and everything about the act of fusing your favorite fandom with a movie, TV series, book, podcast, etc.! Prompts and fills do NOT have to be specifically holiday-oriented.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard, Nightmare Before Christmas fusion
+ Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams, Magnum, P.I. fusion
+ Stargate Atlantis, Rodney McKay, The Santa Clause fusion
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bucky Barnes +/ Any, Jason Bourne franchise fusion
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2018-12-20 04:30 pm (UTC)“Well, once again, Joe Chandler’s house is beautifully structured, but the precision he’s applying to the decoration may mean he fails to complete in time.”
“Yes, it’s the first time I’ve seen anyone use a set square to ensure the accuracy of the windows. I rather fancy Emerson Kent’s creation; it’s very sweet.”
“But possibly too cute for the judges, with all the little people holding hands. On the other hand, Finlay Mansell seems to have taken the fairy tale a bit too literally.”
“Yes, one gingerbread person in an oven, and a trail of bright red icing, presumably blood around the outside of the house might not be to everyone’s liking. What do you make of Edward Buchan’s version?”
“It’s rather, how would you term it, Gothic. At any minute you expect Dracula to fly out of one of the windows. Again, not universally popular. I think my money will be on Ray Miles, I like the way he’s given each of his people their own characters.”
“Yes, I think it will be either him or Megan Riley; the way she’s iced the flowers up the sides of the house may tip the balance.”
“Well, time’s now up, we shall know soon.”

Date: 2018-12-20 08:16 am (UTC)Fill: went for the original movie
Date: 2019-03-17 02:42 am (UTC)“Not a doorway to heaven,” Sam said, running his fingers over the coverstone reverently. “Chappa’ai. Stargate. A gate to the stars.”
The other scientists were buzzing with excitement. What had been inscrutable lines and angles and circles were actually depictions of constellations. Six of them combined formed coordinates to a point far away in the galaxy. The seventh symbol was the point of origin.
E.T. phone home.
Sam wasn’t what Singer had pictured in an archaeologist - he was tall, bulky, lifted weights with the Marines, was incredibly strong and fit. But he had floppy longish hair and a definite bookish air and ended to go on tangents that began with the disarming Get this.
Sam was also good enough at math and science that he could help the other scientists figure out the power requirements for opening the gate.
For all that he was strong, fit, healthy, he was no soldier, and there was no way Singer was letting him through the gate.
“Except I’m the only one who could get your people back to Earth,” Sam said.
Singer stared at him. They were standing on opposite sides of the conference room table, Marines and Air Force officers looking back and forth between them like it was a tennis match.
“If you’re going somewhere else in the galaxy or universe, well, their point of origin will be a different symbol, possibly one not pictured on this gate,” Sam said. “And who else will be able to figure out the coordinates back to Earth?”
Singer pressed his lips into a thin line. Sam was right. Singer wasn’t going to admit that out loud. He said, “Then I’m sending the best I’ve got with you.”
Sam said, “Sure. But I do know my way around firearms. My dad was a Marine.”
Singer wasn’t about to let a snot-nosed archaeologist be in charge of a mission with such extreme tactical risk - there was a chance they’d have to detonate a small nuke on themselves to handle whatever was on the other side.
He had someone in mind.
Winchester wasn’t a common name, but it wasn’t too unusual a name, so Singer didn’t think twice about calling in Dean Winchester, who had special forces training and not a lot to lose - Lisa had left him after Ben killed himself with Dean’s personal weapon. But then Dean arrived on base and came face to face with Sam and his expression went hard, and he said,
“Sammy.”
Sam’s expression turned pinched. “It’s Sam.”
“You two know each other?” Jo Harvelle asked. She’d be Dean’s 2IC, had been on missions with him before.
“He’s my little brother,” Dean said.
Krissy Chambers looked Sam up and down and up again. “Little?”
“Younger,” Sam said. “By four years.”
Singer eyed them both. “Can you work together or not?”
“I always get the mission done, sir. Like a good Winchester does.” Dean nodded his head.
Sam had said his father was a Marine.
Singer had served alongside John Winchester but lost track of him after they both made it back stateside, had been surprised when Dean joined the Air Force, but the Maroon Berets were the most badass of the badass, as Dean put it, so Singer hadn’t been surprised that John’s son had aimed for the elite - and made it with flying colors.
Dean had never mentioned his younger brother.
Sam’s expression was sour. “We’ll be fine.”
Singer took a deep breath. “All right. Then let’s get this operation underway.”
