Hi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling some of my favorite prompt themes, using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Today’s theme is Titles. Your prompts and fills can be any kind of title – movie, song, TV ep, poem, book, or the other kinds of titles like king, duke, and Iron Chef. ::grins::
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, David Parrish +/ Any, The Last Mrs. Parrish, by Liv Constantine
+ MI5|Spooks, Adam Carter +/ Any, Adam’s Not Sorry (Man With a Plan)
+ Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bucky Barnes +/ Any, I Don’t Know How to Love Him (Sinead O’Connor)
+ Trixie Belden Mysteries, Trixie Belden, being crowned Apple Princess at the harvest festival
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2016 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

“I’m fine,” Lucas muttered, blowing his nose again.
“Why won’t you go home?”
Lucas swore, stood up and shouted, “If you must know my heating’s on the blink and it’s freezing there.”
“In which case, you can come home with me!”

Date: 2021-02-22 05:06 am (UTC)Fill 500: Bucky/Steve + Sam and ensemble (fluff and minor angst)
Date: 2021-02-22 04:07 pm (UTC)Sam patted his shoulder. “Is it worse for dating couples or singles? Who knows.”
“He’s Captain America. His ass is America’s ass. What the hell am I doing here?” Bucky asked.
Sam turned to him. “Hey. His ass was your ass long before it was America’s ass. He loves you. You can do no wrong.”
“It’s been so long. We’re different people now. Does he even like chocolate?”
“Probably not teddy bears,” Sam admitted.
Bucky said, so softly he probably didn’t even realize he was speaking aloud, “I don’t know how to love him.”
Sam considered. “What was something you always wanted to do for him but couldn’t, before?”
“Marry him,” Bucky admitted.
Sam grinned. “I know where you can get a big old rock. C’mon. There are always sales this time of year.”
“He’s probably not a diamond kind of guy.” But Bucky followed Sam out of the supermarket and down the street.
“Some kind of plain metal band, then,” Sam said. “Vibranium? Like his shield? And we know a guy who can get us some vibranium.”
Bucky considered. “A metal ring might be a bad idea, in case of an emergency.”
Sam veered away from the jewelry store he’d been heading toward. “I saw a thing online. Sports rings. They’re made of silicone and flexible and safe for really active people. All you have to do is choose colors. They can be engraved with messages and stuff.”
“Ex-fil, now!” Clint fired another arrow, and he fell back.
But Bucky turned and dashed into the burning building.
“Bucky! Come back!” Steve shouted.
“What the hell is he doing?” Tony shouted.
Steve started after him, but Sam grabbed him. “We gotta go!”
There was a flurry of chatter over the radio as the rest of the team made their ex-fil from the building.
By the time they all made it back to the quinjet, only Bucky was missing.
“What do we do?” Bruce asked.
“I’m going back for him,” Steve said.
Stephen cast him a look. “He’s strong and smart. Give him a moment.”
As if on cue, Bucky emerged from the building, a stark silhouette backlit with flame.
Steve ran to him, hugged him fiercely. “Hey, what were you thinking? Why would you do that?”
Bucky was breathing hard behind his mask, had something clasped in his left fist. When he uncurled his hand, Sam saw the little box.
The ring box.
“I dropped this,” Bucky admitted. “Couldn’t lose it.”
Steve pulled back. “What…?”
Bucky pressed the box into Steve’s hand. “Happy Valentine’s Day, even though that’s tomorrow. Marry me?”
Steve accepted the box with shaking hands, flipped it open. Inside were two rings, one red, one blue.
“Till the end of the line,” Steve read. Then he gazed into Bucky’s eyes and said, “Yes. Yes I’ll marry you.”
Wanda cheered.
T’Challa said, “Congratulations! Now let’s go, before the rest of this place burns down.”

Date: 2021-02-22 05:06 am (UTC)Fill x3 -- The Princess of Crabapple Farm
Date: 2021-02-22 04:30 pm (UTC)It’s unreal; how could she possibly be the winner? When she entered the competition for Apple Princess, the last thing she expected was to win--not with her best friends, the two prettiest girls in Sleepyside in the race. Trixie considers herself fairly ordinary--she halfway expects the judges to apologize for the error and name someone else.
Still, she won the apple picking contest handily, and thanks to years helping her mother in the kitchen, she’d been runner-up in peeling and coring…they must have scored that higher than looks. Trixie smiles, dazed, as last year’s winner places the apple blossom wreath atop her sandy curls.
“Thank you!” she says, when the emcee holds a microphone in front of her. “This is such a huge honor!” It’s a little local fair, the ceremonial duties, such as they are are things like riding in holiday parades and being on hand to crown next year’s princess.
And they picked me! she marvels. I can donate the prize money to the Red Cross, they’re having a rough year.
She smiles her way through the picture-taking. It feels like everyone in Westchester is congratulating her. Kids she knows from school, folks from church, a lot of people from Sleepyside Trixie recognizes from her adventures over the years--all of them complimenting her on how pretty she looks and wishing her well.
That’s the best part, better than winning, better than the prize money, even. Realizing how many people she’s helped along the way--that’s the real prize.

Date: 2021-02-22 01:20 pm (UTC)Fill: Stargate Atlantis, Evan Lorne/Rodney McKay (500)
Date: 2021-02-22 05:11 pm (UTC)Hold.
Breathe out through the mouth.
Repeat.
Evan sat cross-legged on his balcony with his eyes closed, dressed only in his boxer briefs and a black tee. He kept up the measured, steady breathing and let his head empty of all extraneous thoughts. It was early in the morning and the only sound he could hear was the water breaking on the pier far below.
Atlantis surrounded him like a bubble of calm, a hum that was felt just beneath his skin instead of heard inside his head. In times of crisis that hum took on an urgent sharpness, but today there was nothing but soothing silence.
As Evan sank deeper into his meditative state he allowed memories to come, pleasant remembrances of meditating with his mother when he was a child, and with the other kids on the commune when he got a little older. He could hear the echo of Granny Wilson’s voice leading them all to set down their emotional burdens and reconnect with the earth.
Now he was reconnecting with the sea, the depths of which were teeming with life and beauty. Evan imagined waves swelling and rolling, and beneath the surface fish cutting easily through the water as they searched for food or fought not to become food for something else.
For the space of eight seconds he swore he could hear the call of a flagisallus.
Evan was pulled out of his zen state when the balcony door opened behind him, ushering in a swirl of slightly warmer air and the man he’d left sleeping in his bed.
“Do you always get up this early? The sun is barely up!”
Evan grinned without opening his eyes.
“Are you really complaining? You’re usually still up at this time, staring at lines of code.”
“That’s different,” Rodney said. “That’s work. You’re just sitting here contemplating your navel.”
“It’s a good-looking navel.”
“You’re an idiot.” Rodney said it without any bite, and Evan took it as it was meant. He’d been learning how to speak Rodney for a while. “You do this every morning?”
“When I can. It helps ground me.”
Evan stood and stretched, blinking his eyes open to take in the sunrise. He tugged Rodney over to stand next to him, slipping his arm around Rodney’s back.
“Where were you when it was meditate or die?” Rodney asked. He put off heat like a furnace and Evan leaned into him.
“You weren’t ready,” Evan replied seriously. “But I’d be happy to help you now. It’s great for relaxation, and you could use more of that.”
Rodney’s hand was suddenly on Evan’s ass, squeezing lightly. “You know what’s better? Orgasms. That’s backed by scientific fact.”
“Prove it,” Evan dared.
He turned his head and captured Rodney’s lips in a kiss, heated and a little dirty, and let Rodney move them both back inside. He wasn’t ready to give up meditating, but the orgasms were undeniably excellent. He’d make time for both.

The werewolf bounced round in a circle and tried to catch its tail.
“And what, Reilly dies laughing?”
“No, but his attention should be distracted long enough for Ros to slip the tracker into his pocket.
“What’s to prevent Reilly from grabbing hold of Ros?” Harry demonstrated. “Like this!”
The werewolf demonstrated its own role by knocking Harry flat, allowing Ros to escape.
“I think you’ll agree we've thought of everything,” Tariq said with a smirk.

Date: 2021-02-22 04:23 pm (UTC)Fill: Malcolm Bright + Edrisa Tanaka (Monster Hunter 'verse)
Date: 2021-02-22 07:15 pm (UTC)He was glad, afterward, that he’d been alone, because Dani would’ve noticed something was wrong. She was suspicious when he told her about a possible demon attack in the park, but pleased when they arrived in time to save someone’s life.
“I don’t know who your source is,” Dani said, “but tell them thanks.”
“Sure. Of course.”
Malcolm had tried his best to look and sound sincere, though judging by the skeptical expression on Dani’s face he wasn’t quite managing it. At least he hadn’t had to tell her the real source of his information.
And then it happened again, this time when he and Edrisa were studying together for a biology test at Malcolm’s.
“Malcolm? Are you okay?”
He tried to respond, but it felt like a hand was wrapped around his throat, cutting off his air supply. As he struggled to breathe, he saw another vision. This time it was vampire ripping out someone’s throat at the Sip-N-Save. 1am. 1am. 1am.
“Malcolm!”
Just like that the constriction was gone and he could breath again. He pulled in gulps of air while at the same time reaching for Edrisa so she wouldn’t go get his mom for help. He’d never be able to explain it to her.
“What just happened to you?” Edrisa asked, handing Malcolm her boba tea so he could get something cold and wet down his aching throat. “It looked like the world’s worst asthma attack, but I know you don’t have asthma because I read your file at school. I mean, I didn’t really read it, because that would be wrong and Mrs. Josphy would kill me if she knew I was doing that, but –”
Malcolm held up his hand. “It’s okay.”
Edrisa glanced over at the closed bedroom door before leaning in close and whispering, her eyes wide, “Is it a demon thing?”
“I don’t know,” Malcolm replied honestly. “I think…maybe?”
It was just the thing he’d been afraid of, the time bomb lurking in his genetic make-up. He was half demon, though in all ways he looked and felt like a mostly normal teenaged guy.
“What happened?” Edrisa asked. “Can you tell me?”
Malcolm could, maybe because he knew Edrisa would be fascinated and help him think it through without any judgment. In a lot of ways, he was closer to Dani, but she had a skewed view of the world by necessity and Malcolm was worried she wouldn’t trust him anymore if she knew.
He laid it all out for Edrisa, trying to explain what it felt like and what he saw when it happened. Edrisa flipped to an empty page in her biology notebook and took notes.
“So there’ll be a vampire attack tonight.” She tapped her pen against her chin. “Can we call them visions? Because that’s what they sound like. They don’t seem especially demonic in purpose, though, right? I mean, they’re showing you things you can stop.”
“If it’s good, then why does it hurt so much?” Malcolm whispered.
Edrisa threw her arms around him and hugged him hard. “Maybe it because it’s new. Like growing pains.”
Malcolm hugged her back, tears pricking at his eyes. “Thanks.”
“What are you going to tell Dani?”
He pulled back and ran the back of his hand over his eyes. “Nothing. Not yet.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Can we please keep this a secret? Just for a little while?”
“You can’t control this,” Edrisa pointed out. “You may not have a choice.”
“But I have a choice right now,” Malcolm argued. “And I want to know more about this thing before I spring it on our resident demon Slayer.”
“Three heads are better than one. And maybe Gil already knows what this is. He knows everything. Well, not everything, obviously, but a lot more than we do.”
“Edrisa. Please don’t tell.”
She gave Malcolm a long look before finally nodding. “I won’t tell. But we need to hit the books and learn as much as we can.”
Malcolm was almost overwhelmed by the relief he felt. He just needed a little more time.
