Hello, everyone. I’m
cornerofmadness As a reminder, we are using a new posting schedule. Sundays are for Lonely Prompts and sharing the fills that you completed during the week, Tuesdays and Thursdays are for new themes and prompts, and Saturdays will remain a Free for All.
Today's theme is Book Titles. It’s been a while since we’ve done this and there are so many great titles out there. The possibilities are limitless. Scour your TBR pile, search your library, go to your comfort reads, there are titles aplenty to spark the muse for new stories to tell.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Hazbin Hotel, Angel Dust + any Who Cries for the Lost ( by C.S. Harris)
+ Prodigal Son, Malcolm Bright + any, Your Blood My bones (by Kelly Andrew)
+ The Owl House, Willow Park + any A Botanist's Guide to Parties and Poisons (by Kate Khavari)
+Helluva Boss, any, Lies on the Serpent's Tongue (by Kate Pearsall)
+ The X-Files, Dana Scully +/ Fox Mulder Bookshops & Bonedust (by Travis Baldree)
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the use of LJ's advanced search options is available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.
If you are viewing this post on our Dreamwidth site, please know that fills posted here will not show up as comments on our LiveJournal site but you are still more than welcome to participate.
If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so…and spread the word!

Date: 2024-11-05 08:58 am (UTC)Fille: Astro/BP, Rosie Park + Lee Dongmin, background relationship
Date: 2024-11-06 11:50 pm (UTC)Dongmin, standing in her vicinity but not close enough to be considered next to her, lifted his own champagne flute and took barely the tiniest of sips from it, and he kept it up near his mouth to conceal the words he spoke quietly. “Please, continue to make jokes like that and put my life in danger.”
“You think your fans would really threaten your life if they found out you were dating me?” Rosie spotted a reporter aiming a camera her way, and she posed and smiled.
“I think my teammate, who is your real boyfriend and is also a fourth-degree black belt who was regional champion three years running and a national competitor, would kill me if an official story was released that said I was dating you.” Dongmin turned away from her and ducked his chin slightly, affecting one of his signature aloof expressions.
Rosie pretend to sip some more champagne. “Ah, but he knows I love only him, and half of the beauty of our relationship is that no one would ever believe we’re dating.”
Dongmin arched an eyebrow. “That’s not exactly a compliment to my teammate, who I deeply respect and admire.”
“And fear,” Rosie said.
“And fear,” Dongmin confirmed, without wavering an iota as he posed for a photo for yet another photographer.
“But I’m not dating him because he’s popular. I’m dating him because he’s strong and flexible and has stamina for days —”
Dongmin drained the rest of his champagne flute in a single swallow. “Please stop talking.”
“I’m talking about his musical performance skills in singing and dancing.” Rosie flashed a sweet, innocent smile at a couple of designers who wanted her to wear their gowns at her next big public appearance. “I don’t know what think I was talking about, but I’m sure it’s highly inappropriate for a public setting like this. Tsk tsk, Lee Dongmin. I thought you were a professional.”
He was, in fact, a consummate professional, a model and actor and television personality with an army of loyal and rabid fans.
But he was also fun to tease now and again.
“Give my best to your teammate, hm?” Rosie raised her glass in salute and then turned and walked away, cautious in her expensive heels and trailing gown.
The next morning, articles abounded about how she and Dongmin had been spotted near each other at the same big event — the third such time in three years — and obviously they were engaged in a secret superstar whirlwind romance.
While she was scanning the new roundup email from her team on her phone, she received a text message from her boyfriend.
MiNyeoKi: What happened at the show last night between you and Dongmin-hyung?
Attached was a screenshot of what appeared to be messages exchanged between Dongmin and Minhyuk.
Rosie laughed and sent back a reply, It’s just the dating rumors again.
Minhyuk’s response was, Those rumors will shield us forever. Have fun in Paris. See you when you get back. Love you.
Rosie didn’t understand why Dongmin thought Minhyuk was scary at all. He was sweet and affectionate and hardworking, and he always showered her with love and attention.
Maybe one day Minhyuk would let her see his childhood taekwondo sparring videos and then she’d understand. Till then, she’d give Dongmin a hard time once in a while, just to keep him down-to-earth.

Date: 2024-11-05 05:41 pm (UTC)By the Cover of Darkness - Skymed - (past) Milosz Nowak/Tristan Green - PG
Date: 2024-11-05 09:31 pm (UTC)me: LA LA LA I'm IGNORING THE BREAKUP!
my muse: Oh yeah? Watch this shit.
::sigh::
---
Milosz couldn't sleep.
After tossing and turning in the hospital bed for far too long, he got the attention of the night nurse. He sat up and dangled his feet over the edge. "I'm scheduled to be discharged in the morning, right?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
The nurse raised an eyebrow but slowly nodded her head. "Do you need something?"
Without missing a beat, Milosz faked a smile. "I'm feeling fine," he said. "Would it be okay if I just discharged myself?"
The eyebrow situation got worse.
"I know it's unorthodox," Milosz said, holding out a hand, "but you know where I live." When the nurse nodded, he continued, "I'll be surrounded by paramedics and emergency crews." He looked around, hoping his expression grasped at something normal. He wasn't wearing the EKG leads anymore, so there was no way for the nurse to tell that his heart was racing like a jackrabbit's. "Come on," he said, plastering a fake smile. "Promise I'll turn right around if my crew tells me to come back."
When the pause stretched taut between the two, Milosz knew he almost had her. He stood, appearing steady on his feet even as his head swam. "I give you my word."
"Pain meds," the nurse said, and Milosz's face fell. Your prescriptions won't be delivered until just before discharge, and," she glanced at the hall clock, "there's nobody in the pharmacy right now who can retrieve them."
"Don't need 'em," Milosz lied, even as a twinge of pain cut through him like a chainsaw. He sat, nodding to the bag of clothes in the nearby chair. "Make you a deal. If I can put those clothes on all by myself, you let me go early."
The nurse cut her eyes at him again. "As long as someone comes and picks you up," she sighed.
"Already called them," Milosz again lied.
Another heavy sigh as judging eyes seemed to rake over Milosz's body. "Okay, but -"
The nurse's warning was interrupted by the ding of a call button, quickly followed by a muted overhead page.
"Go, go," Milosz said. "I got this."
The nurse nodded, then hurried off.
~*~*~
The walk to the bunkhouse would have been better if Milosz had thicker socks or his heavier jacket, both of which he'd left in the Cessna before the accident. Chopper'd promised him that he'd put all of Milosz's stuff back in his room, so he didn't have to worry about that, at least. And it was late enough that, barring a late call, everyone would be asleep.
He really hadn't understood the urge to leave the hospital early. But at the same time, he didn't want to face his friends. Face Tristan. So he made the two-mile trek to the bunkhouse in the dead of night, ignoring the sharp sting of snow and ice that melted into his boots, guided by need and the full moon. Before long, he stood at the steps just outside the bunkhouse, studying it like an unsolvable puzzle. He finally took a deep breath, ignoring the ache in his chest, and took the first step when a patch of green caught his eye.
Green. The color stood out, stark among all of the snow and ice. Milosz leaned over the rail, where a small branch with green leaves had sprouted while he was in the hospital. Green meant the turning of the seasons — a new start for the world.
Maybe a new start for him.
Milosz crept into the house, his head swirling with a decision he hadn't realized needed to be made. With careful steps, purposefully missing the squeaky stair that echoed throughout the house, he tiptoed to his room, sitting on the bed when he reached it. He pulled out his phone and re-read the offer letter once, then twice more before he knew what he needed to do. "I know the offer was open-ended," he typed out, "but how about Wednesday for a start date?" He pressed send before he could chicken out, then pocketed his phone.
'What's done is done,' he thought, then got to his feet, ignoring the slight wobble. He threw his clothes and meager possessions into a duffle bag, then closed the door behind him. He felt lightheaded as he stopped before one door and pressed his palm to it. "I love you," he whispered, then squeezed his eyes shut. After a deep breath, he secreted out of the house, tossed his bags into the backseat of his car, then got behind the wheel. He was ready to turn the key but knew he needed to do just one more thing. So he took out his phone, typed a quick message, then started the car. If he drove quickly but carefully, ignoring the frosted windshield and tears that obscured his vision, he'd been in Steinbach before breakfast.
~*~*~
The quick hum of an engine and flash of headlights woke Tristan from a sound sleep. He turned on his side when he noticed his phone, which should have been on Do Not Disturb. Only a few people could bypass the DND feature, so he reached for his phone and opened the messaging app. He pressed on Milosz's name and read the two words that Milosz had sent.
"I'm Sorry"

Date: 2024-11-05 09:29 pm (UTC)"Sorry," Adam replied. "But a couple will attract less attention that a solitary man. The last thing I wanted was for someone to phone the police and report a strange man loitering out here."
"Okay, I understand that. But why do you need to be out here? It's not the most pleasant of nights."
"A couple of dogs in our neighbourhood had apparently decided to give a half-hearted attempt at howling at the moon, and someone wanted to demonstrate how it should be done. I ended up dragging him indoors and bundling him into the car, with the promise that we'd go somewhere where he could howl safely."
"He seems very quiet at the moment."
"It won't last. He's been exploring all the scents before he starts. Look, there he is!"
They watched as the werewolf sat down in the centre of a small clearing, the moon shining fully on him, lifted his head and gave a loud howl, followed by two more. Then, satisfied with his performance he trotted over to join Adam and Ros.
"I suppose you want your burger now?" Adam said.
The werewolf nodded.
"Yes, I had to promise him a burger as well," Adam explained to Ros.

Date: 2024-11-05 06:27 pm (UTC)Fill: Sherlock Holmes (ACD): Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Inspector Lestrade PG for various deaths
Date: 2024-11-05 09:45 pm (UTC)Lestrade showed us into the dining room, where we found all three brothers sitting around the table, all dead. Cautiously Holmes sniffed the glasses they had been drinking from and I considered the corpses. They had all died from poison and Holmes confirmed it would have been in the glasses.
"But why all three of them?" Lestrade asked. "Did the murderer make a mistake and accidentally poison himself?"
Holmes shook his head. "No. I think we can conclude that Charles killed his father, but I learnt late last night that he is seriously ill and has but a few months to live. He opted for a quick death, rather than a long drawn out one. But, as he had no wish for either of his younger brothers to inherit the family wealth, he chose to kill them too."

Date: 2024-11-05 06:28 pm (UTC)Pg - 13, Heart of Darkness
Date: 2024-11-06 01:12 pm (UTC)How the hell are you laughing about this situation It grumbled.
"You still don't get it. I have to laugh or else the depression demon wins."
Another demon? It sounded nonplussed.
Snorting a darkly humoured laugh, "No, silly, a metaphorical one. You're the only demon for me, I swear."
It seemed mollified by this sentiment. Want me to take over? Give you a break from the pain?
"You have a good heart, demon, no thanks. I'm used to it. You need to take your time to acclimatise to the chronic-ness of the chronic pain."
MINE IS A HEART OF DARKNESSSSSSSSSS it hissed.
"Of course it is, sweetheart."
